PTCL to invest Rs 16bn in next five years, super speed internet soon

PTCL will invest about Rs 16 billion in telecommunication sector in the next 5 years in Pakistan, Walid Irshad, Managing Director PTCL said.

Addressing a luncheon meeting at Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) on Monday, Irshad said that PTCL is going to introduce super-speed Internet in the near future in Pakistan and it would be started from Korangi Industrial Area.

He also said that the era of conventional telephone exchanges is now over and most modern exchanges would now be installed in Pakistan. He said that first ever new generation telephone exchange would be introduced in Karachi.

He further told that PTCL has already minimised the subscribers’ complaints and with the introduction of new services and new generation telephone exchanges, the number of complaints would become nil,he claimed. He said that PTCL is not being run as phone service company—“but as an investment-oriented company which is striving to introduce most modern telecommunications services.”
